I really like the concept of the story. I worry the viewers will not think you couldn't grow fruits and vegetables. It takes quite a bit of background knowledge to think about the tall buildings block the sun and the soil might not have enough nutrients. In an interstitial I don't think there would be time to explain all this. I particularly like the part of the story about the neighbors coming out and making a 'community' garden together. Lots of kids in the cities would have seen or participated in community gardens. Senor Tapir inspects his tomato. Karen takes a bite of a green bean and looks out her window to see an empty lot across the street, with some trash strewn around it. A male neighbor, a lion, stands in the lot with a shovel and waves at her. Karen joins the lion and they start to dig in the dirt in that lot. Close up on Karen and the neighbor’s paws planting seeds in the ground. SeNOR TAPIR (CONT’D) Karen Washington started to wonder whether Her friends and her neighbors could work together, To grow fresh food to eat each day, That didn’t come from farms far away. Now the lot is lush and green and full with a growing garden, including strawberry plants and the tops of carrot plants in the ground. (We can still see some city in the background). Karen picks a ripe, red strawberry. Her neighbor pulls a carrot from the ground. ANGLE ON the strawberries and carrots on a plate. Karen reaches down to pick up a strawberry and take a bite.
