Storywise, here is what is working well:

- The intro and beginning scenes of Ari flirting with and making up his mind not to take baths ever. Chuckle out loud for sure.
- Increasing progression of dirt accummulating on Ari
- An element of inquiry from Elinor and Olive
- Ari's emotional connection to Robin

Storywise, here is what is not working so well on this draft:

- It's not clear how Ari learns the main lesson, what the main lesson is, or how the examples from Nature help that lesson. It kind of seems like the examples from Nature are actually saying that you DON'T need a bath.

- Some elements of the show and tell are not quite working:
1) Don't think that we want Ari to learn his lesson via public shaming or public rejection. It should be that he himself sees the benefits of bathing.
2) It's not clear how Elinor and Olive's presentation ""saves"" or helps Ari learn his lesson. In fact, it just seems to set him up for public shaming more?

Below are some suggested changes that might help bring things into focus. Keep the script as is through line 31 (minus some minor notes), but after line 31, let's change the structure of what happens. Go down to line 31 to see the changes.

Thanks!

I'm less concerned about that -- there are certainly kids who are Super Hero fanatics at young ages, and I don't think the joke hurts anything if you don't get it. But, to J&D's point, it's referencing human pop culture in a way that feels slightly out of place within the world of the show as it's been defined thus far. I could go either way on it, but I think the real question is, is it funny enough of a joke to keep in?</Text>

Off the question in this line (""Everybody needs to take baths.""), it's the perfect moment for Elinor or Olive to say, ""Or do they?""

For the rest of the episode, let's try these changes:

- Let's have the girls get curious about baths in general, and the question of whether everybody needs to take baths and why baths are important. That's the curiosity that drives Elinor and Olive, and not studying Ari as an experimental subject.

- Instead of a montage, let's treat each day leading up to the show and tell as a scene (separated by some sort of day/night transition?). For each day, two things happen: a) we see Ari get progressively (and funny-ly) dirtier (he starts each day with ""Ahh! Another day of not taking a bath!""); and b) Elinor and Olive learn something new from Nature that helps their curiosity quest. For example:

Day 1: Ari comes in and we see that he's starting to get sticky (use the jelly gag?). Meanwhile, Elinor and Olive learn (probably through reading a book) about birds preening themselves (or some nature fact).

Day 2: We see that Ari is starting to get dusty (rolling around the dirt gag) and starting get a little pig pen-like. Maybe the stickiness is what makes the dust stick on him. Meanwhile, Elinor and Olive learn something new from their research: e.g. chickens clean themselves by rolling in dirt.

Day 3: We see that Ari is starting to get itchy (other funny gag). Meanwhile, Elinor and Olive learn from their research: e.g. that fish stay clean by nibbling each other.

The idea is that Ari is almost daring the Universe to see what will happen if he doesn't bathe, Olive is getting progressively more concerned for him, and Elinor is sharing cool things she's learning about, all leading up to a big lesson.

To answer Kevin's question, there are only a couple scenes that didn't feel right to us: when Ari doesn't wash his hands, which feels like the wrong thing to model (you should still wash your hands even if you're not taking a bath; like after using the bathroom, for example). We also didn't love Ari rubbing the jelly around on himself -- feels like it's enough to delight in the jelly glob itself without caking it on. Didn't have a problem with the mud puddle. We did, however, start to wonder what's going on with Ari's parents if this whole sequence takes place over the course of the week -- are they on board with the bathing strike? We could consider having this montage take place all on the same day that Ari decides to give up bathing altogether...?
Last note on the montage: We should make sure we're seeing Robin get messy throughout."</Text>
